AQUAFIX® Separator at Lego factory in Mexico
Largest project of separators overseas - great challenge
4 large AQUAFIX Separators with a weight of 38 tons; 9,512 km journey from Poland over the Atlantic to Mexico - here are the main figures of the Mexican Lego factory project in Monterrey.
To satisfy the growing demand for LEGO products, the LEGO Group plans to expand and invest in its factories located in Mexico, Hungary and Denmark. In November 2015, the first stage of the expansion of the LEGO factory started in Monterrey, Mexico. Now the factory is under a massive expansion which will increase its area by 190,000 sqm. The project will possibly include additional production and storage departments and will be valued at several hundred million Euros by 2022 when it is expected to be finished.
First transport of its kind in the history of HAURATON POLAND
Transport of the separators over the ocean was a great challenge due to their dimensions.
It was the first time in the history of HAURATON Poland where such large separators were sent by sea. “Separators were too big to be loaded into a container. Therefore, they were first transported onto vehicle platforms – the biggest one required a pilot. Then they were loaded onto a ship in the cargo hold and securely fastened with belts for the duration of the transport” – said Anna Michałowska from the Export Department of HAURATON Poland.
The separators were supplied as complete units with bypasses installed and only the reducers were delivered in a separate container. Transport from Gdynia port to Altamira port took approximately four weeks.
The following products were delivered:
AQUAFIX® SKGBP 120 – 8.8 metres, 6.1 tons
AQUAFIX® SKGBP 200 – 13.9 metres, 8.7 tons
AQUAFIX® SKGBP 250 – 17.2 metres, 10.5 tons
AQUAFIX® SKGBP 350 – 17.7 metres, 13.5 tons
