Award-winning project "Spire Skyscraper" in Warsaw
Warsaw Spire is the biggest office building in the capital city and one of the highest in Europe. Once it was an industrial district of Warsaw and now it has changed into an office center full of elegant office buildings, competing among themselves not only in height, or architecture, but also in their surroundings. During the gala CEEQA, the investor and general contractor of the project "Ghelamco Poland" won two awards. Warsaw Spire was awarded the title „Building of the Year CEE” and “Green Leadership Building of the Year”.
Including the spires, the building is 220 metres high and has a hyperboloid glass facade. Next to the tower are two 11-storey office buildings which resemble the crescent-shaped walls surrounding the European square.
Finding the right drainage solution ...
When designing the drainage system for the Warsaw Spire, HAURATON was looking for specific tailor-made solutions for this demanding skyscraper. Along the main building, HAURATON proposed the RECYFIX®HICAP® system with high retention capacity and an aesthetic narrow inlet slot. During the successive stages of cooperation, detailed calculations were made to ensure proper selection of the nominal width of this system.
Tailor-made solutions for the skyscraper
HAURATON has prepared a special, dedicated solution for the demands of this project. A combination of FASERFIX®POINT 30x30 point drainage and FASERFIX®KS linear drainage with a ductile iron grating were selected. Channels are discreetly hidden under granite slabs in the atrium between the structures and only gratings from FASERFIX®POINT inlets are visible on passageways. This solution provides appropriate hydraulic parameters but also minimalistic design of the draining system, making the square in the atrium visually appealing.
The Warsaw Spire project also included the FASERFIX®KS system on driveways and RECYFIX®STANDARD channels with a stainless slotted grating, performing especially to the requirements of this project. Slotted channels with a discreet inlet slot are placed along the building facade.
