HAURATON drainage channels are used for the first residential project by Daniel Libeskind
The world of architecture met in Datteln on 29 September 2009. Daniel Libeskind, world famous architect, inaugurated the future reception building of Rheinzink GmbH in front of 350 guests from 30 countries. The so-called Libeskind Villa refers to a prototype of a future dwelling house of which there will be just 30 around the world. This is the first residential project by this internationally renowned architect.
The Libeskind Villa gives the impression of a crystal that has grown out of the soil. There are acute and oblique angles, sloping and vertical walls, intersecting building shapes, flowing transitions between rooms and a balcony with an artistic visual and solar screen. The building volume is enveloped by metal roof and façade bands.
Only top quality materials have been used for the building which, in terms of design, workmanship and sustainability, sets new standards. Strict sustainability was the primary criterion for selecting all systems and materials used in the construction of the building. Thanks to these efforts the building boasts an outstanding ecological balance, a fact that was highlighted at the ceremony.
During the detailed design phase, the designer sought the cooperation of other innovative German manufacturers with high quality standards. In this context, HAURATON were asked to make proposals for the drainage systems. The briefing was for a channel system that blends well with the architectural concept and provides sufficient drainage capacity for the façades and open areas. Owing to a tight building schedule, the installation of the channels had to be fast and efficient.
More than 200 linear meters of FASERFIX channels with slotted stainless steel grating were installed. The height and material thickness of this grating was specially adapted to the paving and load requirements; this task was expertly managed by Oliver Nagel (Technical Sales Manager) and Mathias Fischer (Area Sales Manager) and their team, in close cooperation with the designers and construction companies.
